Say Bonjour to Spring: Top 5 Paris Street-Style Trends to Copy Right Now
Although Fashion Week in Paris, and around the world for that matter, is very different right now due to this current pandemic, with shows turning virtual, no press events, photography shoots reorganized to accommodate social distancing, etc, etc, etc, Paris street style and a thirst for discovering top Designers' latest collections, playing with the newest trends, has definitely not suffered. We find les Parisiens craving their personal expression right now more than ever. Getting dressed aujourd'hui has become one of the few freedoms left from the constantly changing world health regulations. With most of the city closed and working from home becoming the new normal, the pleasure of putting on a fashion-forward outfit, creative juices flowing in new styling, Paris has no shortage of looks to inspire your Spring closet!
Below, our Stylists have put together their top 5 street-style trends this season to copy right now.
MORE COLORS
Although la Parisienne likes to stick to more neutral tones with subtle pops of color here and there- one standout item per outfit, we are seeing more color emerge this season as it seems Paris is needing a bit of brightness from the somber months we've all experienced this past year.
Bold colors, pastels, and candy tones seem to be taking the reins this season, don't be afraid to play around!
Rule of thumb- if mixing colors, stick to similar palettes to keep your look chic and fashionable but never too over the top.
BRIGHT MONOCHROME
Monochrome outfits has been and continues to be a top trend in all seasons. This Spring is no different. Although the classic white and beige and grey continues in style, we're seeing so many bright, pastel colored looks- especially the popular two-piece suits, paired with a white bootie vernies with matching petit sac, for example.
80's THROWBACK
La Parisienne loves her vintage pieces and styling inspiration from classic designs of yesteryear. For months we have been seeing puffed sleeves and oversized shoulders trending and recent Runway designs confirm that this trend is here to stay. The bigger the better with the balloon sleeves.
MASCULINE + OVERSIZED
Another trend that has been all over Paris street styles and in popular boutiques- oversized, masculine pieces, très tendance and continues to be a favorite for la Parisienne. The two-piece suit, a classic in the French woman's wardrobe, seen worn a few sizes up, men's utility-style workwear pieces worn as looser fitting jumpsuits and sets, cargo styles, classic pieces worn oversized.
LEATHER
La Parisienne always has a go-to leather jacket in her closet, but right now we're seeing them overtake even the timeless blazer. Cropped biker jackets with oversized shoulders and/or masculine structures, leather blazers and trenches in looser fittings, tailored shorts, in neutrals and colors, are seen all over Paris street style right now.
